[He tilts his head, curious and confused... and concerned. Then he withdra2ws his hand from the water so he can stand again, coming closer to the professor and settling his dry hand on the other's shoulder.]

Unless... you are- ah... I fear I've made a bit of a fool of myself, haven't I? [But he merely looks rueful for a moment before returning his hands to his own person.] I was on the island for a rather long time, about a year actually. There's.... a sort of freedom of ahem affections that comes along with such things. I can occupy myself in the other room once the bath is drawn and let you tend to yourself, Byleth. I did not mean to make you uncomfortable...
